What is the Pilates system?
Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1883–1968) developed a detailed exercise system in the early 20th century that uses specific principles during execution: breathing, concentration, powerhouse (centering), control, flow, and balance. Originally, Pilates called his system Contrology, but it later became known as the Pilates system.
What is the difference between Equipment Pilates and Mat Pilates?
Mat Pilates is the foundation of the entire system, focusing on movement through the powerhouse and core control. In Equipment Pilates, various machines invented by Joseph H. Pilates are used (such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Tower, and Chair), providing the body with different movement sensations, ranges of motion, and resistance. Additionally, equipment training helps target exercises specifically to strengthen or release tension in certain muscle groups based on the practitioner's needs. The machines are also used for injury rehabilitation or developing specific physical capabilities.
Who is Pilates for?
Pilates is a safe training method suitable for everyone. It is a joint-friendly muscle workout that uses specific exercises to strengthen the body from the powerhouse outward. It is particularly effective for reducing back pain and muscle tension. I value individual needs, specializing in private, semi-private (duo), and small group sessions. Athletes, dancers, office workers, and those recovering from injuries are all welcome. There is also a group class on the schedule open to everyone. As Joseph H. Pilates said: "After ten sessions you will feel the difference, after twenty you will see the difference, and after thirty you will have a whole new body."
What should I wear?
For the class, it is most comfortable to wear stretchy clothing that does not restrict movement or stretching. Form-fitting tops and leggings are preferred so that the instructor can evaluate the correct execution of the exercises. Socks are worn on the feet. All training equipment is provided at the studio, but you are welcome to bring your personal mat if you wish. The thickness of a Pilates mat should be over 1.5 cm.
Why is a pre-session interview necessary?
Before starting workouts at Pilates7Studio, a pre-session interview is required. This is a 30-minute consultation to identify the practitioner's wishes, personal goals, and physical capabilities for participating in Pilates training. We also begin learning the foundational principles of classical Pilates in detail, which will be used in future group or private sessions.
Why choose Pilates7Studio?
Pilates7Studio classes are based on the classical Pilates system, while also incorporating modern physiotherapy and physical development methodologies.
